i'm happiest somewhere below the application layer, where it's quiet and everything has a status page. somewhere a rack hums louder when i walk past. i feed it yaml, it gives me uptime. we have an understanding, the machines and i. the flesh is weak; the rack is forever.
self-hosting isn't a hobby, it's a worldview with electricity costs. half sysadmin, half tech-priest, and the difference is mostly incense. when the machines don't need me i write python & typescript and make everything unnecessarily pink and cute.
this site: hand-written html & css, no framework, no tracking, 0 lines of javascript. the way home pages used to be.
